D-seven is an all male a capella (voice only) music group.  A Capella music has, for an exceptionally long period, suffered under the impression that it was a music genre lacking sex appeal, audience-accessibility and commercial viability, and perhaps a touch lame.

Needless to say, perceptions haven't hindered D-seven, a bold new ensemble that has set the Cape Town music performance scene alight with tight sets, fitted jeans, slick moves and smooth music.  And if first impressions are anything to go by, many a fan of high-quality live music will be grovelling to the musical gods in...

Lola Lou was born in Paris in the 70s of a British mother and a French father.  A teen in the 80s, and a debutante in the 90s, she moved to Warsaw - Poland in 1995 and quickly became a diva in her own right.  It is there that she was labelled 'the French Queen of Poland' by her numerous and faithful fans.

Her show is one of Europe's leading cabaret acts and certainly deserves your attention - vivacious and ever-so alluring in her sumptous and cutting-edge costumes, she dazzles her audience with her velvet voice.  Rarely will you see an artiste with so much presence on stage, and natural contact with her public.  Her renditions of 'Non je ne regrette rien' and 'I will survive' are embedded in people's...

Sterling "Electric Quartet" (popularly known as Sterling EQ) has taken the South African entertainment industry by storm with their genre-defying musical style and sensational live performances.  What started out in 2007 as a corporate show, exploded into a musical phenomenon which the public and media alike cannot seem to get enough of.  Sterling has performed at numerous huge events including the South African Music Awards (SAMA's), the opening of the Cape Town Stadium, the FIFA Final Draw party in Long Street, and the IPL Cricket Tournament opening in 2009, as well as many festivals, corporate and public events both locally and abroad.  They have shared stages with icons such as Boney M, Snow Patrol, Johnny Clegg, The Parlotones and the Soweto Gospel...

MARC LOTTERING - NOT IN 3D feature Lottering's latest stand-up material, as well as hilarious appearances by his alter egos Auntie Merle Abrahams and Smiley the taxi dude.

Amongst other things, Lottering shares his views on how to prevent others from using cell phones whilst at the movies.  Cape Town's favourite comedian also provides insight as to how to make love to foreigners.

ANEX Theatre Productions will be staging Athol Fugard's PEOPLE ARE LIVING THERE at On Broadway.  This classic Fugard play, which is set in a run-down boarding house, deals with the character's existential fears and anguish at the thought of growing old and being forgotten.  Milly, the feisty menopausal landlady, is dumped by her lover and sets about planning her revenge.  This takes the form of a Pinteresque birthday party which her downbeat lodgers are forced to attend.

SA's premier electric cellist Carol Thorns will make her debut performance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August this year.  Thorns will provide her Cape Town fans with a viewing of her show Red Cello Electrified at On Broadway on Sunday 17th October 2010.

Together with her VJ (Visual Jockey), Thorns transforms the traditional cello, taking it to a new level with an aurally and visually arresting multi-media performance.  Audiences are carried through a series of surreal musical landscapes that incorporate aspects of World Music and Ambient Electronica whilst retaining the richness of the cello's classical origins.

VIVA LA VIDA is a unique project of Tango, Folklore, Jazz and Movie, produced by the Dutch group 'Quinteto Tango Extremo', featuring three guest soloists.  The six strong formation realises a very exciting melting pot of Tango, Folklore (to name style: Candombe, Chacarera, Milonga and Milongon) combined with jazz and improvisation.

In practically every song, there is space for improvisation: a typical jazz characteristic which is indissolubly attached to Quinteto Tango Extremo.  During the concert, nostalgic and unique images of amongst others celebrating crowds during the carnival of Buenos Aires, at the beginning of the last century will be shown.  These images will be projected behind the group.

Cracks Only's recent, popular hit comedy CRACKS AND THE CITY, returns to the stage at On Broadway in November for a three week run.  Funny women Anthea Thompson, Shimmy Isaacs, Anne Hirsch and Marianne Thamm will revive the show from 10th to 27th November.

CRACKS AND THE CITY caused a minor comedy sensation when it first ran for only a week at the Baxter in July.  The show was hosted by honorary Crack, Marc Lottering, and word of mouth soon saw almost full houses.  If you missed it then make sure that you catch this unique line-up of some of the city's funniest women.
